This is something that I wish that I had when I was transitioning from college soccer to figuring out what I wanted to do with my career, post-athletics.
As young women we fantasize about the potential of playing soccer our whole lives, and although a good dream, this doesn’t come to fruition for most athletes.
I defined myself as a soccer player my whole life and knew nothing different. Once my career was gone, I had no direction on who I was going to become next.
It is super important to put some sort of structure and guidance into place. Athletes are highly desirable job candidates but the athletes themselves don’t know this and worse, don’t know how to position this.
I have found myself in a very incredible sales career that I feel emulates a lot of what I did as an athlete. I compete with a team, myself, and practice every day. I wish I had guidance earlier on to figure this out, so I am passionate about making sure the next generation has access to this.
